Signatures, Avatars, Photos & Links, does the forum not support images for signatures, or am I not using the correct syntax?

Mhm........ So you say that someone will intentiosly harm this forum posting scripted image ? There is no way that someone, especialy from domestic folks accidently do that.

I don't know akyprian. This sounds like one of those protections I encounter from time to time when admins disable internet in the firm becuase you can download virus over the net. Its the same security measure as not letting the child drive the bycicle IMO. cool.gif

BTW, attaching the image is not the same as [img] tag.
BTW2, malitious person can still post linked images as of:

Yes

I don't think any of the friends around would do that. But a complete foreigner might just register simply for that.

Not exactly. I would say "let the child ride the bicycle in a safe place rather than in the motorway."

Believe it or not, once I recieved an email from an unkown with my forum password. He was kind enough to explain to me what to do to secure the board from that time on. I am an administrator of this board and I neither know nor can I find anyone's password.

All in all, I am not sure if it is wise to take the risk and allow the image tag. Is it really possible for someone to cause harm if I do? Any knowledge from anybody on this matter is appreciated.

Anything might happen anywhere. When talking about such things its probability that counts and not simple deduction that probability is not equal to 0, as it never is.

So, where exactly are you letting the children drive the bicycle ? smile.gif In teh garden ?
Any road is dangerous. I remember one gf I had, her parents were so obsesed with security that she grew up without knowing to sweam, drive a bicycle and many other things.

You are missing the point. I am not discussing if it is possible to cause damage on the forum. It certanly is, in any system. I can, for instance, create automatition script that will totaly destroy any forum by makint it unusable; in order to achieve that, I would automate browser using COM, WebBrowser control and JavaScript; the script can do anything automaticaly, like spamming indefinitely in a very short frequency, using a proxy list so you can't ban the IP, registering eventualy new user each time, doing OCR to recognise captcha etc... All of those things are already done, just not that way smile.gif

That m8 was kind enough to tell you that forum software u use is vunarable, but any software is if you know it enough. PHPBB forum was once attacked by some islamic fundamentalists who deleted more then 100 forums they found vunarable leaving only 1 message in them, and some a-la matrix scrolling animation. Your Windows is vunarable as switcherland cheeze. Your *nx distribution also, especialy due to the open-source factor (the reason some GOV institutions have their own distributinos). So, really, if I am willing enough, and motivated enough I can do anything.

All in all, I think IMG tag is safe to use. It will make this place less dull as of "1 picture tells more then 1000 words". I hope you are keeping backup of this forum in case bastard shows up biggrin.gif

Anyway, its not THAT important. I get used to have pictures on forums, but I can leave without them. I am just telling you what I think about it.

Not all roads are equally dangerous.

Be sure I keep a backup, I just don't want to spend my little free time restoring it and also I hate the idea of not having just everything back.

Anyway, I 'll take the risk, I enabled the img tag.
