Hi,

I can change the editor default colors but I need to change the keyword group colors. I modify them and Save & Apply them. They don't affect the currently edited source. They do modify the MASM.vas file but if I get out of edit on my file and reedit it, it modifies the MASM.vas file back to the original values.

I haved saved the MASM.vas with my changes, as another name, and copy it back over the original MASM.vas so that my colors are set but when I edit my file it wipes them out again. I don't see any way around this problem.

Surely it's something I don't know but the help tells me to do it just the way I did it and it's not working.

Thanks!

yes, colour browser is not perfect, but you may solve your problem with understanding colour system of IDE.

Intentionally IDE was targeting to MASM only, but then it was adjusted to support other assemblers with FASM add-in. To support different keywords colouring system was "hacked" since version 5.1.7. it is bad it is not described in the help file - may be i'll fix it somehow. The main difference is loading colouring files after loading any file or project, so, at first you just have to load or create any project to edit colours.

by default it is working with file which is set in IDE options: MASM.vas (you may set another file for project with FASM add-in only when neccesary). MASM.vas is storing colours for keywords. Default font colour is selected for default text, as well as all other default colours, and they are stored in WinAsm.ini in "EDITOR" section. alternatively you may save or reload current default colours as scheme (it will be stored "SCHEMES" section of winasm.ini), but it should not alter keywords highlighting. you may search forum for these schemes - just insert them into ini, and the will be available in ide options box.

if this information does not help, please, tell me how do you change your colours step by step (including "starting ide") and post your masm.vas and winasm.ini (check last before posting to remove confidential info if any present) - i'll try to guess what happend.

winasm is developed (even better "was developed") by single person, if you may notice that in 5 years. it is not ideal, but if you have a head, you may work with it enough comfortable. in any case you may use any other bugless, issueless and pain-in-the-ass-less IDE, even write it by yourself - i would test it with pleasure and even switch to it if it will be better.
