This is the change log for HiEditor V4.0.0.3:

V4.0.0.3 is basically a fix of a serious bug. Under certain circumstances, when deleting large portions of text in areas where previously edited, HiEditor memory was corrupted resulting in wrong display of the text contents.

Congratulations on this one, akyprian. This was actually a very long-standing bug that ultimately made me stop using HiEditor. It seemed random and it seriously hampered work - it could mess up with the code anywhere at any time. I can imagine it was a pain to diagnose.

While I've been a fan of HiEditor for quite some time, as you may know from my posts, that very bug made me try other software (namely Notepad++) and I'm sorry to say that it has everything HE already has but also much, much more. It's like N++ is HE with much more developing time and huge userbase. I hope I won't sound ungrateful but I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to think about merging the developing efforts of both packages.

The detailed bug report by jballi made the investigation a piece of cake.

It depends on one's expectations. I like minimalist applications. Others like fully featured programs. Since you are happy with the other application, this is ok. You are not ungrateful.

What's the point of merging the two softwares since N++ has everything HE already has and more?
