1TB Seagate Barracuda - are they really dead, when it starts it gets into an endless loop of regular clicking and reading(?) noise.

SeaFarer,

Thanks for the throught description.
Well Ibelieve in my case it's different coz I got a 1000W PSU and have a little gadget (a fan controller) that also shows the energy consumed. These days never goes above 400. Even when I had my graphics cards working properly which now I have 1 out of 4 only (see my other post 2 x EVGA 9800gx2 are tehy dead? ) barely went above 600.
So I think it gets enough power.
Looks like that my home built computer is like Real Madrid. Excellent and expensive players, but as a team is sh!t smile.gif (Or maybe just expensive players in my case)
No offense if you are a Real fan.
Please help with that one too if you can.
Thanks again.

No offense taken. No idea how to fix that.

As a rule of thumb I always check the power supply. It has always been the most common hardware problem next to whipped mice, keyboards, and old cabling. biggrin.gif

Had them types of problems too. Not so much expensive stuff, but getting certain hardwares to behave properly in some systems. mad.gif

Anyhow... since getting into personal computers around 1992, I believe this is the fourth power supply I have had to replace in three seperate systems. rolleyes.gif

Hi to all,

When my last drive died with all the data I got really concerned since it had all my donwloads and everything.
I contacted Seagate and after about two weeks of email my drives were taken by them, they contacted me that one of them has further issues that is not under the warranty.
I they can fix it for a price that was more than all 4 hard drives.
I was sure that this is the one with all the data and this is how they make money.
I asked for a list of files they found on it to identify and it turned out to be a different one.
they returned three drives with all the prev data intact and now the one that had some minor faults is going to be replaced by a breand new one. all for no cost what so ever.
So Seagate customer service wasn't bad at all and my drives work well now.
Thanks for the concern and good luck to every one with the same issues, the data is not lost and they can fix it for free.
bye.
