I used to use a free for personal use AV program a few years ago, but forgot the name.
It also doesn't show up on any searches.

It would have to run on a .386 on XP SP2 with 256 MB memory.

Tried AVG, but they forgot a few things in the code like seeing if you are already online when it wants to dl the update file and when it's in memory it "doesn't know what to do" and it's error messages foreground and background colors are the same. :-)

Vielen Dank.

Hi Slider

Have you try Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus?
Is relativ good!

I use kaspersky and I'm happy with it.

This antivir works on

– Pentium, min 266 MHz
– Microsoft Windows Vista (32 oder 64 Bit) or
– Microsoft Windows XP Home oder Professional, SP2 ideal
– Microsoft Windows 2000, SP 4

You use XP on a maschiene with 256 ram cool.gif
optimal result is 512 ram or higher

Greets,

Thanks for the recommendation.

I checked task manager and rarely see the CPU that high.

Do you think another 256M of ram would make that much difference?

Of course, I would imagine the memory would be cheap, may be a tad difficult to find.
I will have to see if I have another slot.

Thanks,

Andy

Pray not for lighter burdens, but for stronger backs.

Not other ram ! I mean 256 is to slow
optimal is 512 ram or 2x 256 for Xp

By us costs of time ca. 30 -35 €
Ok everyone must decide for itself
By me was last a one 256 Ram broken ,and this was appreciable.

Greets

You were right, I recently got a "Out of system resources" message. :-)

Found 512 MB for about $40.

Once I find work, I will pick up the memory and sell the old memory.

Being 53 yrs. old is challenging when job hunting.

Most companies want workers who are "Young and dumb". (No offense to younger workers)

I have a business doing home repair. I got some big fence jobs after Hurricane Ike.
About a third of all wood fences in Houston and Pearland were blown down.

Take care,

Andy
